Netiquette: Etika Jejaring Sosial Generasi Milenial Dalam Media Sosial

Abstract

Pengguna internet setiap hari semakin bertambah. Sampai tahun 2017, setidaknya ada 3,77 milyar orang terkoneksi internet dan 2,80 milyar orang aktif menggunakan media sosial. Mayoritas pengguna internet dan media sosial adalah anak muda berusia 18-35 tahun. Mereka dikenal sebagai generasi Y atau generasi milenial. Namun, lompatan tinggi pengguna internet dan media sosial telah menyebabkan resistensi terhadap nilai-nilai sosial yang berlaku di masyarakat, yaitu, etika dan moral. Generasi Milenial merasa punya kebebasan menggunakan media sosial sesuai dengan kehendaknya, sehingga pelanggaran terhadap etika dan moral tidak dapat dihindarkan seperti cyber-bullying, pornografi, penipuan, game judi online, hingga human traficking. Untuk menghindari pelanggaran-pelanggaran etis tersebut, maka dibutuhkan panduan dalam interaksi di internet dan  media sosial. Netiquette merupakan aturan dan tata cara penggunaan internet sebagai alat komunikasi atau pertukaran data antar-sekelompok orang dalam sistem yang termediasi internet. Paper ini bertujuan melakukan analisis terhadap pelanggaran aspek etis yang dilakukan oleh generasi milenial dalam interaksi di media sosial.
