Peran Media Massa Terhadap Partisipasi Politik Mahasiswa Pada Pemilihan Umum 2019
Abstract
Pada era media berbasis internet saat ini, diperlukan telaah terhadap peran media massa konvensional sebagai sumber informasi politik dan kontribusinya pada partisipasi politik kalangan muda. Studi ini bertujuan melihat pengaruh penggunaan media massa konvensional, yaitu televisi, radio dan suratkabar pada partisipasi politik di kalangan mahasiswa. Sampel sebanyak 400 mahasiswa diperoleh melalui metode survei dengan menggunakan kuisioner. Mahasiswa berasal dari UPNVJ Jakarta jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan televisi dan surat kabar secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap partisipasi politik mahasiswa. Akan tetapi terdapat hubungan negatif antara penggunaan televisi dan partisipasi politik. Semakin sering mahasiswa menonton televisi terkait informasi politik, terdapat kecenderungan berkurangnya tingkat partisipasi politik. Diperlukan studi selanjutnya untuk dapat lebih menjelaskan temuan tersebut. Selain itu ditemukan rendahnya tingkat partisipasi politik di kalangan mahasiswa
